Captura del espectáculo humano: Confrontación entre marginalidad y progreso en El Paseo Ahumada de Enrique Lihn

Abstract

This article proposes a review of the work El Paseo Ahumada (1983) by Enrique Lihn from the relationship established between poetry and photography. This collection of poems shows a confrontation between subaltern subjects and modern society since the middle of the 20th century in Chile, facing the questioning of the supposed economic progress that is expressed through the formation of this new artery that became the epicenter of the commercial market. In this way, the confluence of these characters who circulate randomly on the same stage is identified in the work, but without losing sight of the existence of social hierarchies. The poetic voice is situated from a street view within the shows offered by this street that claimed to be the success of the neoliberal model established in the dictatorship, but which finally led to a collapse of what was proposed, surrounded by poverty and social discontent.
